Continuing Education

     "Continuing Education" refers to a range of organized activities aimed at enhancing the efficiency, competency, and professionalism of licensed social workers. These activities include those designed to expand knowledge, strengthen academic and professional skills, and support ongoing professional development.

Requirements for Continuing Education Credits for License Renewal

1. Accumulation of 50 Credits Within a 5-Year Period
Licensed social workers are required to accumulate a minimum of 50 credits within a five-year period, calculated from the date of issuance to the date of expiry of the license. These credits are valid for a single license renewal cycle only.

2. Eligible Subject Areas for Credit Accumulation
• Category 1: Core Social Work Content (Minimum 40 Credits)
Includes knowledge and practical skills in social work, ethics in professional practice, relevant legal frameworks, and specialized areas such as:
     o Medical Social Work
     o Child, Youth, and Family Welfare
     o Social Work with the Elderly, Persons with Disabilities, and the Homeless
     o Social Work in the Justice System
     o Community Practice
     o Interdisciplinary Collaboration
     o Administrative Functions utilizing Social Work and Social Welfare Knowledge
• Category 2: Multidisciplinary Disciplines (Maximum 10 Credits)
Includes subjects in related fields such as:
     o Social Sciences
     o Anthropology
     o Psychology
     o Behavioral Sciences

3. Types of Continuing Educational Activities
Licensed Social Workers should participate in Continuing educational activities for at least 2 of the 4 types of activities as follows:


Procedure for Submission of Continuing Education Credits

1. Accumulation of Continuing Education Credits
Licensed social workers must accumulate Continuing education credits through the Social Work Professions Council Continuing Education Platform at https://cswpeducation.swpc.or.th/ by undertaking the following actions:
   1.1 Participate in approved activities organized by institutions that have registered and received certification from the Council via the Continuing Education Platform; and
   1.2 Manually submit or upload details of completed activities for review and approval by the Continuing Education Committee.

2. Self-Monitoring of Credit Accumulation
Applicants are responsible for verifying that the number and type of credits accumulated comply with the requirements for license renewal. Further guidance can be found in the Continuing Education Handbook.

3. Submission of Application for Credit Evaluation
Applicants whose licenses are still valid or expired for no more than 180 days may submit a request for evaluation of their Continuing education credits via the Continuing Education Platform (https://cswpeducation.swpc.or.th/).
   3.1 If the Continuing Education Committee determines that the credits are insufficient ("Failed"), the applicant must complete additional eligible activities and re-submit them for approval until the required criteria are met.
   3.2 If the Continuing Education Committee determines that the credits meet the required criteria ("Passed"), the applicant may proceed to submit an application for license renewal via the One Platform application.
