Writing Test for Licensing: Applicant Knowledge Evaluation


Applicant Eligibility for Writing Examination (meet any one of the following)


     1. Ordinary Member - You are a registered ordinary member of the Social Work Professions Council with a valid membership ID card;
     2. Pending Ordinary Membership - You have submitted your application for ordinary membership of the Social Work Professions Council through the One Platform application; or
     3. Associate member - You are studying for a degree in social work and meeting all requirements as specified by the Committee�s regulations.

Annual Writing Test for Licensing Schedule:

The licensing writing test is held twice a year on the following schedule:
     Round 1: Last Saturday of February (application opens in January); and
     Round 2: Last Saturday of September (application opens in August).

Procedure for Applicants to Apply for the Licensing Writing Examination

     1. Verify Eligibility: Each applicant should review and ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria to take the exam.
     2. Complete and Submit the Application Form:

     - Complete and submit it to the Social Work Professions Council via [email protected] The documents must be received by the Social Work Professions Council before the application deadline.

Licensing Writing Examination Fee

     The writing examination fee is 500 baht per subject, regardless of the examination format (online or onsite).
     - 1 subject: 500 baht.
     - 2 subjects: 1,000 baht

Formats of the Licensing Writing Examination

     1. Online Examination: through an online writing examination website and the Zoom Meeting program.
     2. Onsite Examination: is a paper-based, multiple-choice examination where applicants mark their answer with an 'X' using a pen. The examination is held at the designated venues arranged by the Social Work Professions Council.

Subjects and Evaluation Criteria

     Subjects
     1. Social Work Principles, Philosophy, and Ethics
     2. Social Work Practice

     Criteria for Evaluation
     1. Each subject consists of 100 questions, each worth 1 point, for a total of 100 points. Each applicant has to get at least 60 points in order to pass the subject.
     2. The average score of both subjects must not be lower than 65 percent, with the score of each category not lower than 50 percent.
     3. If you pass the examination, you can keep and use the score for 3 consecutive years.
       - Passing 1 subject, the applicant must pass the other subject within 3 years.
       - After passing 2 subjects, the applicant must complete the licensing registration process and obtain the license within 3 years.

Instructions after Passing 2 Subjects of the Writing Examination

     1. The applicant must apply for the interview for evaluation of skills and attitudes of the social work profession.
     2. After passing the interview, the applicant should apply for license registration via the One Platform Application.
